M.E.L.T. 2000 - The Music Videos (DVD)
Mick Raubenheimer comments on the release: The "Music Videos" DVD runs like an SA-Jazz lover's serial wet-dream: You've got Busi (SA's Joplin via Fitzgerald) Mhlongo literally overwhelming her overseas audiences, Moses Molelekwa's Spirits of Tembisa, Zim's Migrant Workers, Bafo Bafo's meeting 'tween the Kitchen and and Kunene, Vusi Khumalo's anthemic Dusk till Dawn - in fact every video video is worthy of thankful embrace. And then there are the the choice of interntaional infections a la Brazilian Jazz queen Flora Purim going experimental, UK trancer's Juno Reactor's God is God and on and on ....... These two DVD's offer a fantastic journey into-through SA's audial art and beyond ......all tracks are exclusive.

M.E.L.T. 2000 - Strings & Songs
Mick Raubenheimer comments on the release: "Viewing the two recenttly released MELT 2000 DVD compilations I was struck anew by the sheer wealth of this label's history. If the spirit of "modern" South African Jazz were to be time-capsuled for the hypothetical reference of distant future species, MELT 2000's compilation would head the list. Where the major distributors of local Jazz opted for curio - shop obviousnes, snagging well-known artists (brands) and releasing only their most tourist-gratifying works, M.E.L.T. 2000 has been facilitating, and gathering, those artists with an original voice and a passion to inter-explore other venues of sound. Which, come to think, might just be the very definition of that tricksygenre called Jazz".
